About the Festival
2008 Festival Venues
The 2008 Festival was held in two major cities: Guwahati in North East
India and
Chennai in South India. Both proved to be resounding
successes. Images of the locations and the events are shown here as
well as the page on 2008 festival.

Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, was introduced to cinema in 1896. This
coastal city had its first cinema theatre in 1900 and has never looked
back since then. Each year, Chennai film studios churn out nearly 200
feature films not to mention the hundreds of TV serials and short films
coming out of its dozens of production houses.  An ever-vibrant coastal
city in southern India, Chennai becomes a symbol of festivity in December
and January each year when the dozens of  dance, music and art festivals
attract thousands of tourists to the city. The festival was  held on January
25 and 26, 2008

Guwahati, the biggest city of Assam, is treated as the Gateway to the
Northeast India and the most important destination in the entire Northeast
India. Located on the bank of the Brahmaputra river, it is a large
commercial, industrial and educational centre of the region. The city is
easily accessible by air, rail and road from all over India. SFFI was held
here on January 30 and 31, 2008.
