


| 2008 Festival Venues The 2008 Festival was held in two major cities: Guwahati in North East India and Chennai in South India. Both proved to be resounding successes. Images of the locations and the events are shown here as well as the page on 2008 festival. Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, was introduced to cinema in 1896. This coastal city had its first cinema theatre in 1900 and has never looked back since then. Each year, Chennai film studios churn out nearly 200 feature films not to mention the hundreds of TV serials and short films coming out of its dozens of production houses. An ever-vibrant coastal city in southern India, Chennai becomes a symbol of festivity in December and January each year when the dozens of dance, music and art festivals attract thousands of tourists to the city. The festival was held on January 25 and 26, 2008 Guwahati, the biggest city of Assam, is treated as the Gateway to the Northeast India and the most important destination in the entire Northeast India. Located on the bank of the Brahmaputra river, it is a large commercial, industrial and educational centre of the region. The city is easily accessible by air, rail and road from all over India. SFFI was held here on January 30 and 31, 2008. |
